My Helios Pro 6 grow light

Postby FLOWERpower » Tue Aug 13, 2013 1:33 pm

Hey all .... Well i received my light in the post yesterday (very fast delivery BTW!! ,i ordered on Friday and it was here on Monday!) and quickly fired it up and WOW!!!!! that thing is bright!!

initial first impressions are great! , this thing is big ,bigger than i expected TBH which is by no means a bad thing , its quite heavy and is of exceptional build quality , the 6 giant eyes look mighty impressive to!!
I have not had it hanging as i have nothing to hang it from as of yet , i only had it resting on the floor turned on and in the air with me holding it , like this i can see how much area it will cover and just know that in the Drobe surrounded with mylar it will be mega bright inside!!! :geek:

The on board fans are nice and quiet , just like a PC , if this unit is going in a Drobe or other stealth creation (like this is) i am sure it will be VERY near silent when encased in wood. The next few weeks its a tossup between getting a couple of the Pro2 range for supplement lighting or getting a TD silent 5" in preparation for my new upcoming Drobe :D

I think its a bonus that you can have either 3 lights on or all 6 depending on the grower , handy for keeping cost down in veg before firing up all 6 lights to produce quality buds.

SO yea! im chuffed with it and cannot wait to start using it ,it cost a lot of money but hopefully it will pay for itself after a grow or two, and go on producing high quality bud for years to come    ......

here are a few pictures for ya's .... sorry they are not the best quality they are from the iphone, needless to say i shall post more when i have the Drobe up and running complete with a new build thread so stay tuned

ps/ I would like to thank muddy at LEDhydrophonics , deadlock and a few other people from different forums that helped me decide and eventually buy , i salute you all , THANK YOU

so does that mean as the light comes down its reflected all around, creating a wider coverage from the light?

yes, good coverage is and good penetration.
in last 3 weeks flowering you can have them 14" over the top of plants.

start at 18 in for one week to 10 days, then take lights up to 26in.
you want them to starch a bit, i bring lights to 18in when plant about 2ft.
last 3 weeks 14in. this is how i grow mate.

What a bummer for me, I bought a Helios 6 with the old style reflectors about a month or so ago... Technology eh?.... it's not even out of the box!
Am I going to miss out not using the new reflectors?
I'm gonna grow in a cupboard 1.2m wide by 0.8 deep, by 2.0m high with diamond mylar. As you report the beam is slightly wider with the old reflectors, I should benefit from the reflected light from the close proximity of the cupboard walls. Am I right in thinking the new reflectors have a narrower beam which gives greater intensity to the plants in a larger grow situation such as a big tent or a room? Please correct me if I'm wrong!
The (highly recommended) supplier of my light is like a goldmine of info so I will ask his advice.

Anyway, the results I have seen with the old reflectors look fantastic, so I can only expect pure excellence from you buddy! Looking forward to seeing your posts.
Boom Shankar!!!
